The Slide of Terror

We went to the Poconos last weekend, and although I will share more photos of this amazing weekend later, I really felt like this sequence of photos deserved their own post.  Let me preface this by saying that it all ended (eventually) in smiles, as evidenced by this photo. And, it started out as smiles. But, the middle was anything but smiles.

There was a water slide where we were staying; the slide went into the lake and Alex immediately wanted to go down. My sister decided she would go down with him.

Both are super excited to go down the slide.

My sister is starting to understand how steep the slide is here.

Amanda is also starting to realize that they are about to be submersed into really cold water. Alex is still okay.

This is the point when Alex realizes that the slide is not what he expected.

Full panic from both.

Getting closer to the cold water.

And, they are submersed!

Alex is not happy about the submersion.

Smiles after a little bit.

I decide to try it.

Alex is desperately pleading with me not to do it—“no, mommy, no, don’t do it” he kept saying.

I try it anyway.

He comes to make sure I am okay—it was cold, but fun.

Amanda a lot less worried.
