Easter: Decorating our Easter Tree

Growing up, my mom always used to cut a few branches from a tree in our yard and we would decorate the tree for Easter. Living in NYC, I cannot exactly go to Central Park and cut a few branches off a tree I do not own. So, I bought my branches—for five dollars, I got some beautiful pussy willow branches.

I love the height of these branches. I put them in a blue mason jar and tied them all together with a robin blue ribbon.

I found these egg ornaments at Michael’s, but I thought they were a bit bright (the pink ones anyway), so wanted to tone them down. My mom was in town this weekend, so she, Alex and I painted them together.  Alex had so much fun decorating with my mom and the marble effect on the eggs really made them beautiful.

Once Easter passes, I am going to put the eggs away, but keep the branches—I think they are beautiful against the mantel in our apartment (which is an original detail from when our brownstown was built in 1897).
